Catguy Game Manual on POWER FISH by TVsKyle Catguy Game Manual on POWER FISH by TVsKyle
A page from the Catguy Kapowie game manual. What it doesn't tell you is that Power Fish give Catguy horrific mood swings. On the off-hours, he avoids those fish unless he really has to. He hates feeling the loss of control.

I like how the idea is that a character reacts and suffers emotionally while the player just gaining powerups in the process. How attached (or detached) is a player to his ingame avatar?

Thanks!
The player isn't attached at all. The gamers have no idea the little pixellated guys are sentient. :)

Forget the network pitch. Just jump to the game tie-in.

I think having a tv tie-in will make it easier to get Wayforward to do it, which is what I desperately want. :D

Nice. I like how it looks like it's been scanned off an actual manual.

Can Catguy's emotions come close to matching that of Super Princess Peach?

It's similar to be sure. Wish they'd make a sequel to that game. It rocked.

While Peach's anger just burns stuff, Daisy's anger can crush your very soul.

Ha!! I wish they'd put more of these Mario side characters in the main Mario games or at least in Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi games. I still think Toadette would've been better for player 4 in NSMBWii

This looks straight forward enough to fit well on the face of an arcade cabinet, then perhaps be adapted for the manual of the home version. I imagine the loss of emotional control probably fits well within the parameters of the gameplay mechanics too, like the sad Catguy would control more sluggishly or angry Catguy would move more erratically.

If this ever gets picked up, I really hope there's a "Retro Game Challenge" styled compilation game... but that's probably thinking far too in advance. ;)

Oh, I've though this far in advance. I think a collection of Catguy Kapowie, Spookycube, Space Sheep, and Elephant Boy would make a great moderately-priced download game (especially considering Elephant Boy is a full SMB-style sidescroller), though also would probably work fine as a Flash games on a website (a la Chimp Chomp).

I'm really looking forward to this cartoon.
Did you hear that Disney's making a movie about characters in video games?

Yes-- I'd already been developing this when I heard about it, and I hope it doesn't hurt my chances.
