Gokai Red collab by TVsKyle Gokai Red collab by TVsKyle
I posted a sketch of Gokai Red of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger
here: [link]
:iconkinniku-g: asked me if he could ink and color it, and I, of course said "Dude, yeah!" He did a great job! He filled in some details while he was at it, too.

Gokaiger is an AWESOME show. For those not familiar, it's one of the latest of the Super Sentai series. Super Sentai is converted to Power Rangers for American audiences. Gokaiger has, as you can tell, a pirate theme, and they have the power to transform into any of the previous 34 teams of Rangers via Ranger Keys. While the show sticks to its formula (and occasionally pokes fun at it), the characters are very well-developed and their personalities carry the show. The action is really satisfyingly over-the-top.

I added facial features on my version because one of the official magazine artists who draws the SD versions likes to do that and I thought I'd give that a go.

oh also, bandai is currently working on trying to figure out how to bring over gokaiger. this will probably take a while to script.

I'm eager to see how they explain the japanese-only teams. alien teams, perhaps? or will they be left out entirely?

I read somewhere that while they were shooting 199 Heroes, Saban had them film scenes with only the teams that appeared in America, so they'll probably do something similar, but with only the teams that appeared here. I don't tend to like the american versions, but I'm all for it if it means affordable toys!

I did not know that. still sounds awesome. I admit to liking the japanese ones more... but I'd still watch the english one of gokaiger just to see how they do the continuity of combining everyone

if you like this kind of stuff I would also suggest looking into a few Kamen Rider series (findable through TV Nihon. googleable). I would suggest OOO and Den-O. the current one is Fourze. And if you want a sampling series, Kamen Rider Decade is similar to Gokaiger, where he visits the worlds of previous riders and can turn into them too.

Kamen Rider Fourze is currently my favorite tokusatsu show. I might draw him sometime soon too. I've watched a handful of Kamen Rider Stronger and just watched the first Den-O and enjoyed it, so I'll check out some more of those. :)

got any plans to eventually include a sentai team parody in the strawberry fields comic? would probably be a while from now to not fall ontop of current hero stuff like megamoo, but definately worth the wait.

There's a little of that coming up in the next storyline, but for the most part, all of this tokusatsu influence is going into Go-Rama.

Go Captain Marvelous!

this series reactivated my love for sentai, seeing all previous sentai all together and cameoing nearly every episode.

Gokaiger is the first japanese sentai series I've watched from start to finish, and it was amazing. The Gokai Galleon Buster had to be one of the best finisher moves ever (especially when it turned out they each had their own colour variation on it) :D

It'll be the first I watch from start to finish once I polish off the last 10 episodes. Watching Go-Busters as it airs. Might shoot for Magiranger next since I liked the start of that one. What are your other favorites?

I started watching Go-Busters, but it really isn't doing it for me so far. I think they've moved away from the formula just a tad too much with that one. I did like Magiranger from what I saw of the american show, so I might check out the original version. Seemed like it had a decent story and some cool villains. I liked Timeranger, Dekaranger and Gaorangers from what I saw of them, too, but really Gokaiger is the first series I've watched completely in a long time.

Have you heard about Akibaranger? Sounds like a pretty ridiculous official fan-service parody, but I think I'll get a kick out of it!

I'm gradually starting to get into Go-Busters. I wasn't into the characters at first, but as they develop they're starting to grow on me. Can't hold a candle to the Gokaigers, though.
I'm really, really, really looking forward to Akibaranger. I wonder just how adult they'll get!
