I don't know how you get suck a clean and smooth line in photoshop, I just got Illustrator just to relieve me of this issue.

It used to mystify me as well, but I finally "got it" after getting an excellent "sharpie" brush setting. A lot of it comes from making swift lines and keeping my hand on "undo" so I can keep re-doing a line until it's right. It's not as annoying as it sounds!

Adding this as it will be very helpful later on if I ever have a computer capable of working with files large enough to let me do digital inking.

I can't draw in tablet yet. :( Many guys here in DA can do that. But I don't.
I like to feel the pencil on paper yet. Just I color and do lights/shadows in the tablet.
I'm amazed of your linearts, very fast and very clean. I can do this only in vectors and sometimes in physical and thin brush (and black ink) on paper.

Also, I didn't know the "Scketchbook Pro", man! I'll looking for it.

Ooo, fascinating! Tell me more about this intriguing offer. It's good for me to work from home because of my huge sloping forehead and tendency to drool.

Wow, that is so different from how I do it. I make, like, a million layers. Maybe I'm over-complicating things?

These days I use SAI for pretty much anything but the process is kinda similar (when I do drawings at this resolution, though). I'm not sure if I do actually have one chisel brush but I can just make one I guess.

I probably should try filling in the flat colors this way because I tend to do it all by hand, and it's kinda tedious :<

Huh. You do all this on one layer? Most people I see using Photoshop tend to at least put their shadows on another layer. Interesting.

Yep. I keep my layers separate and flatten a copy when I'm finished. Breaking a piece up into layers allows for easier editing. To each their own, of course. :)

It'd take way longer for me to do my shading on another layer, so I generally don't unless I'm going for a particular effect.

I've always liked how your lines look. I must look into finding out more on these chisel brushes. Even though I don't use photoshop for my inking. But still.

Neat tutorial. Sketchbook pro is one of my favorites~

 Very nice - sorta similar to how I tend to digitally draw stuff, but it's fun learning how others do it their way. Nice tip reg; the lasso 'n' shade, K-Man 8-)

Bringing Contrast all the way up is one way to reduce it to black and white.....but a better way is to select Adjustments > Threshold. That way you can adjust the thickness of the lines as well.

Anywhere to get that chisel tool or is it a trade secret?
