Moobeard and Darkblade by TVsKyle Moobeard and Darkblade by TVsKyle
I'm still experimenting with this new coloring style with mixed results. I decided to color this Moobeard and Darkblade drawing I did last year but never posted.

too bad this pitch never went through in full force, that pilot episode actually wasn't bad at all. :)

it'd be pretty cool if you ever decide to make short comics based on Moobeard (like you used to do with Frog Raccoon Strawberry).

Thanks! I'll get back to MooBeard someday.
Doing a MooBeard comic would be fun, but there's no way I could do two comics at the same time, really. It's hard enough getting Strawberry out once a week.

lol, that I can totally understand. xP

just a thought though, maybe you could post a page for 1 comic per week? Like FRS one week, and then Moobeard the other? I'm sure your fans wouldn't complain. :)

still, glad to know you still got heart for ol' Moobeard. ;)

People are already inpatient with the pace the story normally moves along in FRS. To slow it down by having it alternate with another comic would probably not work out well for me. Additionally, if I were to do a comic other than FRS, it'd likely be Go-Rama.

Wow, this really looks fantastic! Your characters are so expressive, the way you drew their mouths and eyes here are wonderful, as is the posing. I hope I can eventually make my own characters as dynamic as this. Excellent work :D

Moobeard is my favourite character of yours.
He has a simple and unique design, there's not a drawing of him I don't like.
Very good job.

Kickass, I loved how these guys were in the cartoon, instead of the junk they put on now they should put something like your stuff on, it's great.

Hm, you don't say.
Either way, both look just as heated as they did in that wonderful cartoon.

The big difference is that Darkblade's less of a villain now and more of an equal force who's after the same thing. More of a rival than anything evil.

Well, he did initially seem that way in the pilot. I'd say it's more of a fresh approach to give him that title contrary to a typical antagonist who's a villain. Plus, it is treasure he's after, not control of the world or anything.
That's my educated guess, anyway. :meow:

I need to try to do this again. How do you pull of that textured look? Seeing stuff like this makes me think of a title card for a cartoon short.

A lot of the texture is just taking different scanned paper and using multiply or overlay layers at various opacities in Photoshop. Other textures are the brushes I'm using for shading.

I can see that paper method. What sort of brushes do you use? I'm trying to figure out how to do this myself.

This new coloring technique fits well with this! Just a thought, have you considered doing Moobeard as an online series? Similar to Homestar Runner?

Frankly, it would take forever, and I don't feel MooBeard would work in such a limited animation style nearly as well as Homestar did.

Well, I made a pilot and it didn't get picked up as a series. I pitched it to a few more places, didn't generate any interest and then moved on. That's how it works!

A damn shame, that's what it is. I found it hilarious, and the pitch just made me want to see more.

Oh well, you've always got new projects, it seems. Hopefully you'll get better luck with them ;)
