Ok, I'm going to do something fairly self-serving here, but it'll really help me out if you're willing to help.

As many of you reading these words know, I've been developing a concept called Go-Rama for several months. I've begun pitching it and will be pitching it to various places. (Please don't ask where.) For those who know what it is and like it, it would really help to know what you like about it. What things about this concept do you like? What about it gets you excited? What makes you want to see it on your TV?

(For those who don't like it, that's cool. You're welcome to that. Please sit this journal out.)

UPDATE: Thanks everyone. I'm feeling much more ready to kick butt and receive names by force. Y'all are good to me. :)

I've loved your Go-Rama art since you posted the first one, and am really glad you decided to make him a full on hero instead of the "Not Cool" project you were originally going with. I love all the dynamic poses, the mix of silly weapons with the genuinely cool way he handles himself. I would so watch a cartoon about him. I think what I find most amazing is how it's such a simple design that manages to be so distinctive.

I think the best designs are the iconic ones. Every character that's ever endured has been something a child could draw a version of.

Heh, that's a good point. Another thing that really impresses me is how you manage to communicate the whole "superhero" part of his character through the body language. Outside of the wrist module and the futuristic sunglasses, he doesn't really wear anything that screams "fighter". Really, looking at your work on him helped me realize how much I really need to step up my game on drawing poses.

Also, I have to admit that this plays in my head every time I look at a picture of him: [link]

Thanks! I get a lot of Go's poses from tokusatsu magazines and episodes, particularly Gokaiger and the last few Kamen Riders.

It combines interchangeable power gimmick (one of my favs), with silly cartoony goofiness, and I love it for that! I think this is one of your best cartoon ideas, and I'll be really sad if this doesn't get on TV.
And when it does get on TV, I hope it lasts for many seasons!

I like how it's a bit of a 80s-90s action cartoon/anime throwback. Weapons, gadgets, sidekicks, villian designs/revamps. I think it would work great as either a gag a day or a continuing storyline. And I've said this before, but I can still see this as a fun pixel platform game. Ever though of pitching in that direction too?

What would make me hyped to watch this on TV would be to witness the over-the-top fights, the different Slaminals introduced in each episode and seeing your characters come to life! I simply adore the character designs and would love to experience this futuristic/retro-esque universe they live in. Something like this really oozes nostalgia since it seems like a huge tribute to shows like Power Rangers and video games like Mega Man. I really think that this'll be a huge hit among young watchers and the older crowd. I wish you the best of luck in making this happen, man.

Wait, wait...TV? Holy crap and I thought I was missing out on more TVsKyle comic goodness.
HELL YEAH I WANT TO SEE IT! I'm a fan of Strawbs, but I'd love to see your work brought to life.

For me, this shows is a very ''affectionate parody'' of tokusatsu shows, in funny and silly situations or sometimes would be if serious on shocking episodes, and special events in which some artists would be invited to make their version of it and finally give too much continuity in the plot, well that's However, I hope that helps you :)

I really like the style you've given the character and his universe. It's a nice blend of modern and past japanese cartoons with the added blend of 80's video games (though most evidently, Super Mario Bros 2 and Megaman).

As well as this, it really shows you have a very ranged and fantastic imagination when it comes to the slaminals. All of them are different, quirky and funny! It's a great blend of creativity and comedy and I'd totally watch this if this ever became a show!

I think one of the things that caught my attention with Go Rama is that the concept is both interesting and cool. Its like a mixture of the 80’s style as well as video gaming inspired by the days of the console wars. Character designs are mind blowing and well worth a catch in the eyes. I love go rama’s design the most, I think someone should pick up the pitch for this. It would be worth my time to watch this if it ever becomes an animated series. The Slaminals, they are also an interest to me. To see that Go-rama has a never ending collection of Slaminals is awesome. The more he has, the more the impact can happen on the viewer. Leading to many “Holy crap, what will he choose next to fight with?!??!”, that’s what I see whenever Go-rama gets a new Slaminal.

What makes me want to see this on tv? The action, the concept, the characters, and the never ending Slaminals. I say…keep pitching until someone picks up this masterpiece! ;)

I really love the character designs, and the host of gadgets are really fun and quirky!

I like it, reminds me of alot of snazzy shows from the 90's but with a new spin and a bit more art quality

I enjoy the character designs and your humor. As a child of the 80's I really appreciate the old anime and video game influences in the design and concepts behind of the show.

Dude, you got this. I went back through your gallery, looking at Go-Rama art and trying to think of something to say, and it's all awesome. I love the Ishinomori/1960's Japanese flavor, I love the video game setting, I love the piles of special weapons. Every episode could feature different weapons; you've got no limits! And your fluid drawing style is PERFECT for an action/comedy show.

You're going to get this! Go-Rama feels like he's got his own show already.

I'd have to say the whole concept of the weapons/forms to fit various situations. Like in Mega man X5 with the armors, basically those whole 80/90's Toyetic thing.

nostalgic silliness and awesome character design

There's little I know about the show aside from snippets of information you include in your descriptions, but it sounds interesting.
What I'm excited about is the interaction between characters, specifically the Slaminals. There's a lot of boy with interchangeable powers-shows out there, and the fact that they're sentient and even talking creatures makes the show stand out, and I want the show to build on that.
Limpurtikles Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I think the thing I like the most is the gimmick, i.e. all the different weapons, all with their own personalities.
Anti-Alchemist-5 Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2012  Student Digital Artist
Character design and wackiness. Definitely keep the wackiness. Don't tone it down, not even a bit.
Mr86Returns Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
The thing I like the best is that it's all-out zany enough to catch even the shortest attention span, but its premise is also very fleshed out, and it's old-school enough to not have an established upper age in its potential demographic. It's nice to see a show with something for everyone, especially if it's as cool as Go-Rama.

Plus the Slaminals my god the Slaminals. =D

I like the concept and I like the fact it's sorta based in an amagamation of alot of different Japanese based genre, its imaginative and well designed whats not to like?
Cosmic-doodle Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2012  Hobbyist Digital Artist
For me, the thing that catches my attention the most is all the different weapons he has. Its not only that he has a bunch of weapons at his disposal(for lack of a better word, I guess) its how unique they all are. Its quite interesting to see what will pop out of him next.

Yes and I would love to see it on TV.
I bet it can out do a lot of shows on TV right now

All I can say is that I'd watch the crap outta it
Seriously though, the whole thing gives me jittery goosebumps of happiness

that would work cool :)

In general, this can be quite marketable. Your designs up on the screen, getting children excited for how cool that character looks or how awesome this guy is, etc. Your concepts and designs would make cool toys.

Also, your style would be a refreshing view on what's currently on right now. Definitely a show I'd watch, not even for style or animation wise; your pitch sounds totally rad.
The-Knick Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2012  Professional Digital Artist
I like the zany characters and your style. I especially love the various Slaminals, and the feeling of "Oh my gosh, which one will he use next!" they provoke.

I thought it would be just a comic, but on TV? Yes. Totally rad. I'd love to see how the animation style plays out and what the dialogue and voices would be like.
Emjaidi Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2012  Professional Digital Artist
For me, I like how the concept of the series is a satire of both anime shows and video games. The weapons and villains are also really inventive. I would be very intrigued to see how a full-fledged series would pan out.
